Church founded in medieval times. The nave was rebuilt in 1739 by Thomas Woodward of Worcester, and the whole church was rebuilt 1894–1898 by Sir Arthur Blomfield. The church was largely destroyed by fire on 21 February 1941 during an air raid. Rebuilt 1954–9 by the architects Leslie T. Moore and Sir Percy Thomas, although Moore withdrew before building began. The church was reconsecrated 28 May 1959.
