Outstanding church of 1859-61 by J.P. Seddon, and largely unaltered. On site of medieval church. Seddon took his inspiration for the west windows from transept windows in nearby Tintern Abbey. Seddon and John Coates Carter designed the chancel wall paintings (1889) and the alabaster reredos (same date) carved by William Clarke of Llandaff.
