R. K. Penson (1816-1886)

Architect. Richard Kyrke Penson was the son of the architect Thomas Penson, and built or restored a number of churches in Shropshire, Cheshire, Hereford and Wales. He was the 'honorary' Diocesan Architect for St Davids diocese by the 1850s. He had the reputation of being a radical church restorer, as for example at Llanrhidian, Gower, when he demolished the medieval church and rebuilt it.
