Archie Rhys Griffiths (1902-1971)
Welsh painter born in Aberdare and brought up in Gorseinon, where he worked as a collier. Archie Griffiths attended Swansea School of Art and then went to the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1926. Much of his work during the 1920s and 30s depicts mining subjects, sometimes with biblical allusions.Further reading
